The difference lies in that while a groupie is someone who "adores" a particular figure (some actor or actress, some musician, etc.), a "cholulo" shows big interest or admiration for people in the show business in general: he or she (a cholula) wants to take a picture with anyone, just because it's someone famous... But, to judge by the size of that boy's smile, he seems like a genuine Daniel's fan.
